R-410A is being phased down. R-32 is the practical next step for residential systems right now.
Quick facts:
• R-32 is more efficient (higher capacity per pound)
• Lower GWP
• Smaller charge sizes on many new systems
• Widely available and serviceable by trained techs
The catch? Not every old coil or lineset is compatible, and the install has to be done correctly (proper evacuation, correct oil, leak-free joints). That’s why we only put R-32 systems in when the whole system is designed for it — new outdoor unit, matching indoor coil/air handler, and properly prepared lineset.
If your current system is still R-410A and running well, there’s no emergency. But if you’re looking at a full replacement in the next 1–3 years, R-32 inverter equipment is the smarter long-term play in North Texas.
